Title taken from the William S. Burroughs novel of a similar name, The Wild Boys: A Book of the Dead. Wish I could say it was informed by Duran Duran, but there's really no through-line between that (excellent) song and what I made here, other than the name inspiration.

This song had to contrast “City Of Night”, so it sort of abandons the street level background in favor of a rainforest ambience. Sort of a “concrete jungle” approach. You have this same sort of sleaze happening but the spirit is a bit more metaphorical, male conquests across urban decay are subbed for panthers in the jungle.

Burroughs was from my home state of Missouri. Coincidentally too, both novels, “City Of Night” by Rechy and “The Wild Boys” by Burroughs, they were published by Grove Press.
