Innocent Secret explores familiar territory for Faint Waves, what with the guitars, synth pads, and drum machines. That said, this particular extended play relies on a very specific sonic palette that was informed and inspired by some of Faint Waves' favorite songs.

From guitar dreamscapes informed by Billy Idol and Robert Plant, to 808 grooves inspired by Paul Hardcastle and Pet Shop Boys, there was a very specific vision going into the Innocent Secret EP. A vision that, in some ways, goes hand in hand with returning to the roots of this project. The very roots of how and why Faint Waves began.

There's a distinct A-Side and B-Side to Innocent Secret, as evidenced by the warmth and romance of tracks 1 & 2, and the contemplative longing of tracks 3 & 4. The first half characterized by classical and nylon guitars, the second half characterized by clean electric dream tones. You get a real sense that you've flipped over the proverbial record and the mood has shifted along with it, despite recurring sonic themes. Consistent isn't exactly what I would call this EP, as it's more of a mixed bag. After S&P, I needed a mixed bag.
